Adnan Januzaj made a strong case for being recalled to Louis van Gaal’s starting line-up to face Arsenal this weekend after scoring once and laying on a fabulous assist in Manchester United’s Under-21 rout of Manchester City on Tuesday.
The Belgium winger started the game – which United won 4-0 – in impressive fashion after he first set up James Wilson’s fifth-minute goal with a brilliant 40-yard through-ball, which the forward coolly drove in.
Januzaj then doubled the Red Devils’ advantage with a goal of his own after the half-time break when he received the ball on the left, cut inside and dribbled past two City players before finding the bottom of the net.
The 20-year-old ended the match by being forced off with an apparent injury in the 73rd minute, but rightly received a standing ovation for his brilliant work in the victory that leaves United’s U21 side needing just one point to win the Premier League title.
