Jose Mourinho took charge of his first Manchester United game on Sunday, defeating Wigan Athletic 2-0 in a pre-season fixture at the DW Stadium.
The Portuguese also handed debuts to new signings, Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, while Luke Shaw made his return from a broken leg.
United took the lead few minutes after the interval. Jussi Jaaskelainen scuffed his clearance at Juan Mata, who then set up Will Keane to tap into an empty net.
Andreas Pereira then smashed in the second from inside the area.
Mourinho’s men will face more difficult games in the next 10 days against Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City.
