Liverpool have made enquires about Juventus striker Carlos Tevez, according to reports.
The former Manchester City and United striker is in terrific form in Italy and could still win this season’s Champions League, with his side taking a 2-1 lead into the second leg of the semi-final against Real Madrid tonight.
Juventus are close to signing young striker Paulo Bruno Dybala from Palermo so it is said the Serie A champions could cash in this summer on Tevez.
Liverpool are desperate to sign a world class striker after last season’s failure to replace Luis Suarez and Tevez is a player that would be perfect for Brendan Rodgers’ side with his terrific work rate and movement but more importantly his clinical finishing that has been sorely missing at Anfield this season.
Tevez is now 31 but still has a few years left in him but Juventus won’t let him go for cheap.
He is not a player that fits Liverpool’s current transfer policy, but that strategy surely has to change if the Reds are to challenge for a top four place next season.
If the news is true that Liverpool have made enquiries about Tevez then it will be interesting to see if they pursue their interest and spend the money for this quality striker.
