The
Hollywood Reporter has learned that Jason Sudeikis (Horrible Bosses)
has officially signed on to star in Warner Bros' upcoming "Fletch"
reboot, which is called "Fletch Won" and is planned to be the first
installment in a franchise.
The "Fletch" movies are based on the
Gregory McDonald mystery novels featuring an investigative reporter
named IM Fletcher. The first book was written in 1974, and it spawned
eleven more. Chevy Chase portrayed the character in the 1985 classic
feature, which was followed by a sequel.
The project has been in the works for years with countless actors and directors attached at different points.
"Fletch
Won" is an origin story, described as a gritty action comedy with heart
and more tonally in line with McDonald's novels than the Chase movies.
The goal is to have a vibe similar to "Beverly Hills Cop" and "Midnight
Run."
